India will begin the five-match T20I series against West Indies on Friday, with the first game scheduled at Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad.

Ahead of the series, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya met West Indies batting legend Brian Lara for lunch. The Indian took to social media and said: “Always a favourite in the Pandya household.”

Pandya-led Gujarat Titans, who won the recent IPL 2022, also shared the picture of the two and wrote: “Legend Lara & #PapaPandya catch up ahead of tonight’s game at the Brian Lara Stadium.”

Pandya, who was rested for the ODI series against West Indies, has joined the Indian group for the T20I leg. The all-rounder is in sublime form, having helped India clinch the ODI series in and against England earlier this month.

The India all-rounder along with skipper Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav landed in Trinidad on July 26.

During the tour of England, Pandya joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and K Srikkanth in an elite ODI list as he became the fifth Indian to score a fifty-plus score and take four wickets during the third game. He also became the first Indian to achieve the feat outside the Indian subcontinent.

India and West Indies will play five T20Is between July 29 and August 7 across three venues. The Men in Blue, led by Shikhar Dhawan, recently clean swept the ODI series against West Indies. The Indian side became the first team in 39 years to clean sweep an ODI series with three or more matches in the Caribbean.
